Spring, 2007

Hello, Neighbors!

Things are going very smoothly in the building, and the Board of Directors has been busy keeping the building in tip top shape. A new garage door has been ordered for the 670 east door. The Board is in the process of obtaining bids for a new coating on the outside walkway floors, and we will keep you updated as things progress. The floors protect the structure of the building and must be maintained on a regular schedule. The new flooring will be more attractive and easier to keep clean. We hope to get this started in November. Finally, if you have furniture in good condition that you plan to replace, contact Jo Warn, as the building might be interested in buying your old furniture for use in the guest units.

Building Security

Security is up to you. We all have to be aware of security. Is there someone you don't know at the front door? Don't let them in. No, it doesn't seem friendly, but we need to know who's in our building. All visitors must call upstairs and be admitted into the building by their host.

Rules and Reminders

We're living in a community and it's important that each of us is courteous to others. Think about your actions. Here are a few important issues:

  • When you use a Sunwatch grocery cart, please return it to its stall in the garage. Don't leave the cart in the elevators or just beyond the doors to the garage where someone will walk right into it.
  • Please observe the check-in/check-out times for the guest units. Check-out time is 11:00 am sharp, and check-in time is 4:00 pm. Each unit is cleaned when a guest leaves, and there is often another guest waiting to check in. We're running on a schedule, and a delay can inconvenience a lot of people.
  • Do you have plants on your balcony? Please don't water them outside so the water can run off your balcony to units below you.
  • Remember that when you sit on your balcony, voices carry, and anyone with an open window can hear you.
  • Do not throw cartons down the garbage chute. They simply don't fit. Always break down cartons and leave them in the garage outside the dumpster.
  • If something is spilled in the elevator or any common area, please clean it up.
  • You must clean up after your dog!

Remember, you can always view a complete set of rules on the website.

Hurricane Season

The forecasters are predicting an active hurricane season. I hope they're wrong but we have to be prepared just in case. If you're a Sunwatch snowbird, remember to shut off your water and bring your balcony furniture indoors before you leave.

If you're going to stick around, bring in your supplies of water, nonperishable food, batteries, and so on. Get your valuable possessions and paperwork together in case you have to evacuate.
