Fall, 2004

Hello, Neighbors!

To our neighbors who are away from the building for the summer, surely you're following the weather reports with great interest and some alarm. We're happy to report that we are safe and the building has come through a long, stressful hurricane season with minimal damage. We had one mandatory evacuation followed by three tropical storms that really hammered us. Hurricanes Ivan and Jeanne brought a horizontal driving rain, which did cause some water damage in the units, minor damage to the building, and damage to some of the landscaping. The oleanders have been cut back severely, and look pretty bare right now, but promise to be healthy and full when they bloom next spring.

The recent storms have definitely caused some damage. Some problems may be the responsibility of the building, and some will be YOUR responsibility. If your unit had water damage, leaks, or structural problems, please send a detailed, itemized account of your problems to Mona Cleary, chair of the Maintenance Committee, at garnet1750 at yahoo dot com, or drop a note off at Unit 906. The Committee will try to work with you on problem solving.

Annual Meeting

The annual meeting will be held Thursday, December 2 at 7:00 p.m. When you get your information packet, please be sure to return your proxy so we are sure to have a quorum. There are openings on the Board for the coming year, and owners are encouraged to run for election.

Condo Living

A portable generator is a deadly safety hazard and can NEVER be used indoors. Absolutely no generators of any kind are allowed on the premises. No fuel or flammable substances of any kind may be stored on the premises. No exceptions!

Be a Good Neighbor

We have mentioned the concept of being a "Good Neighbor" repeatedly. There are a few ongoing problems which can be solved by being courteous to others and using your common sense.

  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms.
  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms. Styrofoam packing peanuts must be bagged and taped shut before putting in the dumpster. If they are not bagged they blow around the building when the dumpsters are emptied.
  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms. Grocery carts must be returned to the garage, not stored outside your condo. If you spill something in the elevator or if your pet has an accident in the elevator please clean up after yourself or your pet.
  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms. If you are having work done in your condo and there will be tools, supplies, and the possibility of spills or debris in the elevator, please ask Dan to pad the elevator prior to work being done.
  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms. Take a look outside your front door and if your courtyard is dirty or stained or your railing is dusty, take a few moments to do some fall cleaning. Your neighbors will appreciate it.
  • All boxes must be broken down and placed beside the dumpster in the dumpster room. Please observe the signs on the doors to the dumpster rooms. No food or beverage in the exercise room, please. Soda was spilled on the new treadmill and it stopped working.

Planning for the Holidays

The holidays will be here before you know it. We love holiday decorations, and our building looks so lovely with white icicle lights on all the balconies. We would love to see 100% participation this year!
