Winter, 2000 We wish a safe and happy holiday to everyone, with our best wishes for a happy new year. Thanks to all who helped put up the beautiful, festive holiday decorations outside our building and in the lobby. Special thanks to you who climbed up on ladders to decorate palm trees outdoors! Many residents have put lovely icicle lights on their balconies so our building is decorated from top to bottom. We will surely be a strong contender for the Island Estates award. Annual MeetingThe Annual Meeting was held on Wednesday, November 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the new conference room on the second floor. In a strong vote of confidence, the current members of the Board were all re-elected, showing that on the whole, most owners are pleased with the way the building is working. This past year, the board had to do a lot of work to complete things the developers left undone, and to fix certain things that were not done correctly the first time. They have put in many long volunteer hours, and we owe them our thanks. A change in the bylaws needs a 75% vote of the owners to pass, but at the meeting, we only received proxies from 60% of the units. The Board had recommended three amendments to the bylaws, none of which could pass because of insufficient votes. Remember folks - this is Florida - every vote does count! The Board of Directors met for a regular Board meeting immediately following the annual meeting. They announced that the Time-Warner cable contract will be effective January 1. This is good news for us! Instead of paying $27.00 or more per month, the charge to each unit is only $13.35 for basic cable, and that cost will be part of your regular monthly assessment. What should you do if someone in the building is breaking a rule? if you have a complaint about someone in the building? The first step is to notify the management company. Call Mike Small at 712-8989 or email Mike at msmall@rampartproperties.com. Be sure to include the name and unit number you are complaining about so Ramparts can take appropriate action, and be sure to sign your letter. Condo LivingRemember, if you have cartons or boxes, they don't fit down the garbage chute. They must be broken down and deposited in the dumpster on the ground floor. Signs will be posted on each garbage chute and at the dumpster area as a reminder. Also, please - don't throw unbagged garbage down the chute! Everything must be bagged and tied.
